Google recently launched a new way to search called "Google Instant". Now, when you browse to Google and start to search, "instant" is automatically turned on and as you type the results you see the results change instantly as you type. With this new enhancement the biggest question on a lot of business owner's and marketer's minds is "Will this affect how my site ranks in Google?"

The answer is no, it will not affect how your site ranks, but it may have an impact on what phrases users search for. Because users will typically scan the results while they type they may start altering the phrases that they search for in hopes of finding results that are more accurate to what they are really looking for - all in real time. That means that if you currently rank in the top 10 results for a popular phrase, you still will, but that phrase may become less popular over the next several months.
