"We'd like to thank the Academy..." ThoughtLab is proud to announce that we have won a Gold and two silver awards for excellence in web design.

Here’s something we love to say; “We’d like to thank the Academy …”

I know, it sounds like the start of a joke or a bit a drunk friend might do while he’s holding an empty champagne bottle at a party but, we’re serious ...

We’d like thank The Academy Of Interactive and Visual Arts. Why are we thanking them? Well, it turns out they’ve seen our work and once again have judged us to be pretty darn good.

The winners of this year’s W3 Awards have just been announced and we here at Thoughtlab have been honored with three awards. That’s a trifecta, kids, a hat trick and we’re dang pleased about it.

What are the W3 awards, you may ask. Well, I’ll tell you. The W3 awards honors creative excellence on the the web and recognizes the creative and marketing pros behind award winning sites, video and marketing programs. It’s the first major web competition to be accessible to the biggest agencies as well as the smallest firms. So we, a larger sized company, were in the mix with some serious, Fortune 500, companies as well as international agencies. Some good company and some stiff competition too.

Are these important awards, you ask. Yes, we answer, yes they are. We’d even go so far as to say the W3’s are prestigious, meaning they inspire respect, admiration, acclaim and give Thoughtlab a bit of an authoritative voice when it comes to web design.

The W3’s are sanctioned and judged by an invitation-only body consisting of a veritable <br />“Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, interactive, advertising and marketing firms. Where do the members of this academy come from, you ask. (Side note, you ask some good questions). The judging body consists of executives from some major organizations like; Big Spaceship, Conde Nast, Disney, Fry Hammond Barr, Microsoft. Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Wired, MTV, Yahoo and many more.

Thoughtlab is proud to announce that we won the following awards; City Home Collective took a GOLD in Real Estate, A Silver was awarded to Rakuten Marketing for Corporate Communications and All Kinds of Therapy, our new design of their site, was given a Silver in the health category. Three awards, which is three more than the number of Olympic medals Chad has won. Chad’s my brother-in-law. He’s still thinking he can win Gold in Candy Crush. It’s also a country in Africa that has never won an Olympic medal but, we have no problem with Chad the country. Chad the dude, we wish he’d get out of our basement.

So, thank you Academy, we’re honored, we’re proud but we promise this isn’t going to change us, we won't let it go to our heads. We’re still the same off center, wildly creative, seriously humble folks we’ve always been. Oh, by the way … it’s Mr. Thoughtlab now.
